My final product will be a 5000 word article on the topic of censorship.
- Audience: young people interested in both national and world politics (Age bracket:20-30).
- Opposed to internet censorship, freedom of speech/information.
- Focus on the use of the internet, internet groups.
- Topics including wiki leaks and the occupy movement.
The article will focus on the use of the internet and political internet such as anonymous.
Lacking a real structure of command, anonymous operates on what they believe to be moral. called ‘freedom fighters’ and ‘digital robin hoods’ by supporters, and a ‘cyber lynch mob’ and ‘terrorists’ by their critics.
I will be comparing political policies and censorship laws in both the UK and countries like North Korea and China.
One of the topics I will focus on in the UK is David Cameron’s opt in policy for adult content, and the unexpected side affects to having a filter such as this.
One of the major problems with this is that it can sometime ban sites that do not contain adult content.
And I will be comparing that to the firewall that is in operation in China at the moment, effectively making the internet, and intranet.
One of the aspects I think is important to show is public opinion, seeing as the whole point of my article is to represent those of the public who have strong feelings about this topic.
