This week we looked at how magazines are changing in this digital age.
Its common belief that paper magazines will fade away, with digital magazines available for tablets and webpages becoming more popular. This is because digital magazines create much more freedom in terms of design, you are able to have animations, videos, interactive content and the ability to change things AFTER publication, something which isn’t possible with print.
The problem with print based magazines in the expense, it costs a lot to print a magazine, and the cost of publication is cut drastically in the magazine is digital. With the popularity of the internet, a magazine can reach an enormous amount of people, drawing in new audiences in places the print magazine is not available.
This made me think of the future of publication, whether it be on print or on a screen, and what my role will be in it.
