Everything you need to know about the movies that should be at the top of your watch-list

  • Point Blanc

Language: French

Samuel Pierret is a nurse who saves the wrong guy, a wanted criminal who’s henchmen take Samuel’s wife hostage to force him to break their boss out of police custody. A brilliantly filmed thriller, Point Blanc takes the audience on a adrenaline fuelled ride through the streets andthe underground passages of paris. Despite being only 1 hour 20 minutes long, it delivers a welcome break from billion dollar budget movies that have filled our cinemas this year, relying on exceptional acting, a great storyline and several twists and turns along the way, this is a definite watch for any action fans.

  • Troll Hunter

Language: Norwegian

A group of students investigate a series of bear killing,  and decide to follow a mysterious man thought to be a poacher, they soon learn that he is in fact a troll hunter and things are not exactly as they seem. Since The Blair Witch Project, few films have managed to capture the amateur look whilst maintaining a genuinely scary atmosphere. Troll Hunter however seems to deal with this problem easily, blending the use of an amateur film camera with surprisingly realistic CGI effects

  • REC.
Language: Spannish
REC.  is the footage from a smalltime TV station who are covering a call out made by an old lady trapped in her apartment house, they reach her building to hear horrifying screams — which begin a long nightmare and a uniquely dramatic TV report. This film bridges the gap between amateur and professional filming, using a decent camera but still retaining the shaky footage effect that made The Blair Witch Project so realistic. A much better film than the american remake ‘Quarantine’ which is shot for shot identical, REC. will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finnish.
